Greetings, fellow OSPMI members and friends!
On behalf of the board of directors, I welcome you to our chapter’s web site; the communications center of our chapter.
Our mission is simple – to provide value to our members in their development as professionals in project management and related fields. We hope you will experience this value through the many services we provide, including monthly chapter meetings, day-long seminars, PMP preparation programs, and volunteer opportunities. It is this last service that I wish to expand upon in the remainder of this message.
I joined OSPMI in September of 2005, shortly after I earned my PMP certification. The presentation at the first meeting I attended was a real-life experience of project management applied to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. It was a fascinating presentation which, while related to my ‘day job’, took the concept of project management to an interesting and engaging place. I immediately decided I wanted to be more active with the group, and offered myself as a volunteer. I can say without hesitation it was one of the best career-based decisions I’ve ever made.
Through my affiliation with the board of directors of the OSPMI, I have met and worked with over a dozen exceptional people who have all been dedicated to service to our membership. On a personal note, many have also become good friends who share not only a profession but a true caring for each other and the people we serve. (And the fact that several PDUs can be earned by volunteering is a pretty good side benefit as well!)
I encourage you to consider joining us as a volunteer. Feel free to contact any member of the board (our e-mail addresses are found on the Board of Directors page of the web site), and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you have.
Thank you for being a part of our OSPMI family!
